What is NDIS Short Term Accommodation (STA)?
NDIS Short Term Accommodation(STA), also known as Respite Care, is a program funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) that provides temporary support and accommodation for people with disabilities and their caregivers. It offers a safe and supportive environment where participants can stay for a short period, giving caregivers a well-deserved break while allowing participants to enjoy new experiences and build independence.
STA funding covers accommodation, meals, and activities during the stay, ensuring comfort and engagement throughout the experience. However, it does not include everyday personal expenses such as spending money.
This type of support can be helpful in many situations such as:
- When a family member or caregiver needs a short break.
- While home modifications or repairs are being completed
- For young people wanting to explore independent living
- When attending camps, workshops, or community programs to learn new skills and make social connections
To access NDIS Short Term Accommodation funding, participants can discuss their needs with their NDIS planner or Support Coordinator, who can guide them through the process.
We make STA a positive and empowering experience by providing a welcoming environment where comfort, growth, and connection come first.
Who is Eligible for NDIS Short Term Accommodation (STA)?
Eligibility for NDIS Short Term Accommodation (STA), also known as Respite Care, is based on specific NDIS criteria that ensure the service meets the participant’s needs.
You may be eligible if you meet the following conditions:
- NDIS Participant: You have a disability that is recognised and supported under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
- Need for Temporary Support: You require short-term assistance to live away from home. This may be due to caregiver respite, skill development opportunities, home modifications, or other temporary circumstances.
- Assessment and Approval: Your eligibility is assessed through the NDIS planning process, and your NDIS planner or Support Coordinator can help you determine if STA is suitable for your individual goals and situation.
We work closely with participants, families, and coordinators to make accessing Short Term Accommodation simple, supportive, and stress-free.
